The proposed 4.5 GW Central-West Orana REZ transmission venture, positioned 350 kilometers northwest of Sydney, has obtained planning permission from the Australian authorities.

The announcement follows the New South Wales authorities’s choice to grant planning permission in June 2024. Construction is scheduled to start in late 2024, with preliminary operations deliberate for 2028.

The Energy Corporation of NSW (EnergyCo), tasked with delivering the NSW REZs, will now award a ultimate contract to the chosen community operator to design, construct, function, and preserve the transmission community.

EnergyCo CEO James Hay stated securing planning approval for the transmission venture was a key step in progressing 12 GW of technology beneath the New South Wales Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap (EIR) and transferring in direction of a clear power future in New South Wales.
