Too many tables and chairs block Portsmouth sidewalk: Letters

-

Lots of tables and chairs exterior the Brick Market

June 20 − To the Editor:

I like all the pieces that Mark McNabb has developed within the metropolis. Big fan. I actually just like the Brick Market. It is a enjoyable mixture of artwork, neighborhood house, and up to date architectural options with distinctive colours and supplies. Last summer season it was my favourite place to have espresso, pastries and benefit from the nicely spaced, peaceable, outside tables and attention-grabbing sculptures.

This morning we walked to the Brick Market exterior the grounds between Penhallow and Pleasant Streets. Holy smokes and YIKES! I used to be stunned on the HUGE variety of tables and chairs obtainable right this moment. Too many, too intense, too shut to one another, too thorny and overwhelming. Doesn’t appear welcoming anymore (to me). When somebody leaves a chair misplaced or a canine and stroller on the highway, the trail is blocked. It fully takes away from the open and calming ambiance that the house could be. I like you Mark, however do you assume all of the seats can be found? (Sorry, that is what they used to say about parking garages). Just my opinion.

Should historic buildings within the district actually be ‘preserved and guarded’ from photo voltaic panels?

June 18 − To the Editor:

The approval of 54 photo voltaic panels on Chapel Street subsequent to the Parish House of St. It is puzzling that this compromise nonetheless has its critics. Do historic buildings within the district actually should be “preserved and guarded” from photo voltaic panels? Black photo voltaic panels on black roofs are definitely not pleasing to the attention (personally, I discover them fairly cool).
