BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Bellingham faculties and Western Washington University (WWU) are among the many recipients of greater than $3 million in photo voltaic power grants coming to Whatcom County.
The state Department of Commerce introduced a spherical of grants earlier this week that can fund 71 clear power tasks throughout the state.
Bellingham Public Schools was an enormous winner, getting simply over $2.7 million – the second-highest complete awarded. The funds will go towards putting in photo voltaic arrays at 5 faculties – Options High School, Shuksan Middle School, and Alderwood, Cordata and Happy Valley elementary faculties.
WWU acquired greater than $320,000 to put in photo voltaic panels in STEM buildings. Another $133,000 will go to Point Roberts Parks and Recreation for its efforts to broaden photo voltaic power locally.
Along with Whatcom, Skagit County acquired greater than $4 million for clear power tasks within the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community and the La Conner and Anacortes School Districts.
The funds come from Washington’s Climate Commitment Act.
