FAIRFIELD — Solano County Library Services will launch a new, more user-friendly computer experience in January.
The Polaris system is “designed to help customers discover the library’s vast collection of books, e-books, audiobooks, e-audiobooks, movies and more.
All Solano County libraries and their affiliated libraries will have the new system ready on January 11th. The branch will open at 11:00 am that day.
An additional benefit of the new system is that it features a “smarter, faster, more intuitive search” feature. “Account customization, including the ability to log in with a unique username instead of your library card number, and the ability to choose text notifications.” and “Up to five automatic renewals of physical items borrowed from the library.”
Older computer catalog systems and most online services are no longer available, requiring a physical library card to check out items. There will be no registration of new libraries until the new system is up and running.
Library Services is asking clients not to return library items until January 17th. The deadline will be automatically extended. Books cannot be put on hold until January 12th.
