Samella Watson and Grace McBride stopped by the PhocusWire studios at The Phocuswright Conference to discuss how participating in the Philip C. Wolf Memorial Scholarship program is helping shape startups.
The scholarship not only provided Watson and McBride with conference tickets and accommodations, but also participation in select mentorship programs at the event and membership in the Travel Tech Executive Fellowship.

BLCK Founder and CEO Watson says the conference will give him “access to great people who have already done great things” and understand “how we can help shape the future.” said it helped.
BLCK is a turnkey marketplace that allows people to find, bid on and lease fully furnished units so that they can generate passive income in the short-term rental sector.
The company will launch in the New Year, where Watson hopes to “see hundreds of people go into business.”
McBride is the founder and CEO of Lucia, a freelancer marketplace that brings flexible work to the travel industry. Lucia will launch in the third quarter of his 2022.
The conference empowers founders to “push the boundaries of travel technology” and encourages pioneers to challenge the status quo, says McBride.
