As travel becomes ever more demanding and expensive, we often see coveted ‘travel hacks’ praised, but do they really work?
The most popular ‘hack’ is often the best time to book a trip and the best day to leave to get the best deals. Skyscanner, a travel-related search platform, is now working the numbers on Skyscanner’s 2023 savings generator.
Using global pricing data, travelers in Canada and the rest of the world can now know how much they can actually save when booking their trips.
Skyscanner Destination Expert Laura Lindsay said in a statement: “Most people are unaware of the simple tips and travel tricks that can save them a ton of money. This is more than ever. It’s becoming important.
“We know how powerful information is when looking for the right price.”
What is the cheapest day to travel from Canada?
According to Skyscanner, Canadians save an average of $310 per passenger when booking flights 23 weeks in advance. Saturday is the cheapest day of the week to travel from your Canadian departure city.
Skyscanner’s savings data allows travelers to determine the average price of a particular flight route, the cheapest and most expensive days to fly to a destination, and the best time to book a flight, based on historical average prices. You can compare.
For example, if you are traveling to Paris in June and traveling on a Sunday, you should book your flight 20 weeks in advance to get the best deal. Or, if you’re traveling to New York on a Monday in June, book your flights 21 weeks in advance for the best deals.
If you want to use the savings generator (more specifically) to travel from Toronto to Cancun, Mexico in March, the generator says that this particular route is best booked 49 weeks in advance, and the average shows a savings of $326. The cheapest day of the week to travel is Tuesday.
