Serbian power exchange SEEPEX and technology firm Traken Tech have agreed to work together to upgrade the power market using new digital technologies such as blockchain and Web3.
As a basis for future strategic cooperation, SEEPEX and Belgrade-based technology company Traken Tech have signed a Memorandum of Understanding. Notably, a few days ago the Serbian power exchange operator announced a merger with Slovenian power exchange BSP SouthPool.
According to SEEPEX, the purpose of the partnership is to collaborate on research, development, innovation and pilot activities to improve the existing electricity market environment using new digital technologies focused on blockchain and Web3 technology. .
The two companies will develop the infrastructure for the EU Action Plan to digitize the energy system.
In line with the European Union’s action plan on the digitalization of the energy system, aimed at improving energy efficiency, decarbonization, electrification, sector integration and decentralization, the companies will work together to develop a comprehensive and flexible infrastructure that will benefit the entire electricity market. We plan to address the issue by developing it.
“A key element of a digitized energy system is the availability and accessibility of energy-related data based on seamless and secure data transfer between trusted parties. It may be introduced as the most convenient platform for efficient digitization and decentralization,” said SEEPEX.
Cooperation also includes the aggregation and marketing of small-scale renewable energy and the introduction of guarantees of origin.
The MoU will support decentralized energy resources, including small-scale renewable energy and flexible DSR (debt service ratio) facilities, flexible market research, development and innovation (RDI) activities, guaranteed origin and joint participation in the EU RDI programme. It covers the aggregation and market utilization of , the design of an innovative financial model based on decentralized finance.
The two companies see this document as an important milestone in their further development through synergies focused on planned research and innovation activities.
