Muscat – HH Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham al Said, honorary chairman of the Rising Omani Startups Programme, presided over an investment and startup summit hosted by the Small and Medium Business Administration (ASMED) on Monday.
Held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center, the two-day event is organized in partnership with several government departments.
The Summit began with a session titled “Entrepreneurship and the Future of Startups” which focused on a number of issues including discussions on the start-up ecosystem, presenting global, regional and local perspectives in the field of building and managing start-ups. A special session was held dedicated to the topic “Investing in Startups” with a focus on venture funds, crowdfunding and startup stock exchanges. On the first day, the summit reviewed the experiences of successful startups in global, regional and local spheres.
Activities on the second day include a session titled “Business Incubators and Accelerators” and a workshop to encourage the establishment of private investment funds.
The summit will include a dedicated workshop where decision makers, investment professionals and start-up representatives will discuss Oman’s startup ecosystem, government and private business accelerators, private investment funds with branches dedicated to startups. is also discussed. .
Through the summit, ASMED aims to spread the culture of startups in the field of innovation and technology. The summit will provide Omani start-ups with an opportunity to secure funding and investment, develop their own systems and define appropriate guidelines and initiatives to support these.
