iPhone 15 Ultra gets a periscope lens
According to Ming-Chi Kuo’s new memo, Apple will have a periscope camera in only one model (iPhone 15 Ultra and iPhone 16 Ultra) by 2025.
For years, Apple has been rumored to have a superzoom or periscope camera on its premium iPhones. It looks like the iPhone 15 Ultra will finally get this feature, and will remain limited to Apple’s largest and most premium model throughout the iPhone 16 cycle.
According to Ming-Chi Kuo’s tweet, the supply chain expected the periscope camera to arrive in both iPhone 16 Pro models, not just the Ultra, in 2024. The reason for this change was not given, but it is expected to have a negative impact on the revenue projections of the companies that provide the lenses.
iPhone 15 Ultra is a placeholder for the name of the future 6.7-inch premium iPhone. Apple’s naming scheme changes from time to time, with the iPhone 15 Ultra expected to replace the iPhone 14 Pro Max in the lineup. Pro iPhone only.
