Your iPhone has special iMessage codes that you can enter to unlock hidden features.
Even if you’ve had an iPhone for years, you may have missed them.

iMessage has many advantages, but one lesser-known perk is the selection of secret effect codes.
Apple hid them as Easter eggs, but these are pretty cool iPhone hacks you should try.
For example, open an iMessage chat and type “Pew Pew”.
Both you and the recipient will see the screen filled with lasers.
I have some other code you can try.
Send a “congratulations” message and confetti will rain down.
And the same is true if you write “Congratulations” in another language.
If you enter “Happy Birthday”, a balloon will float on the screen.
And then there’s “Happy Chinese New Year,” which unleashes virtual fireworks in iMessage.

That’s not the only iMessage trick you should know.
Once you’ve typed your message, you can press and hold the blue send button and attach any of the following:
- Eco – fills the screen with message bubbles
- Spotlight – Spotlight your message
- Balloons – Balloons rise from the bottom of the screen
- Confetti – Falling confetti
- Love – Big hearts swell from your message
- Laser – Laser Light Show
- Fireworks – Fireworks explode on your screen
- Shooting Star – Shoots a shooting star across the screen
- Celebration – Red Fireworks Show Appears
Note: You won’t see these effects unless the recipient also has an iPhone.
Also, these effects are limited to iMessage only, so they won’t work on WhatsApp, Signal, or Facebook Messenger.
