Newswatch 16’s Emily Kress was there when one group in Lucerne County hit the road early Friday morning
Luzerne County, Pennsylvania — Fans, decked out in all blue and white, began loading their bags onto the bus around 4:30 in the morning.Departure from Pittstone Township car park after 5:00 AM
“I’m a teacher. We don’t get up at 3:30 in the morning, but we had to get up at 3 so someone could go to the Rose Bowl. That was his dream.” said Patricia McIntyre of Rose Valley.
The group traveled to Philadelphia International Airport, where they boarded a flight to California. Where the Rose Bowl is played on Mondays.
“It’s going to be exciting. Come on out to the game, it’s a pep rally. There’s no better place to be with the Penn-Staters on January Day,” said Old Forge’s Darlene.
Some of these fans have traveled to the Rose Bowl before, while others are new to it.
“Like they say, the whole atmosphere of the Rose Bowl. Patricia said. McIntyre and Kevin Wyker in Rose Valley.
Tony Salerno of Dallas said, “I think all the excitement will create an enormous amount of excitement. They have to be the best with the students and alumni.. It’s going to be chilling in the stadium.”
The Rose Bowl matchup between the Penn State Nittany Lions and Utah Utes begins on January 2nd at 5pm.
