The pseudonymous video editor ‘Newcompute’ has put together a true power tower that stands out from the rest. It’s a portable all-in-one that turns the LCD display into its own side panel for video editing anytime, anywhere.
“I’m a video editor,” Newcompute explains behind the build. “I’m tired of dragging around a full tower and monitor, so I’m prototyping this all-in-one laggable around a 4k monitor, the smallest he’s found.”
In some ways, what Newcompute built is a fairly standard tower. Mainly Asus Prime Z380-A motherboard with Intel Core i9-9900k processor, 64GB of DDR4 RAM, MSI NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080, 1 TB of Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) storage, and interface with external hardware Thunderbolt 3 card for By contrast, what he built is new.

“The frame is made from 2020 aluminum extrusions,” explains Newcompute. The answer to portability: By designing a new chassis with a 24-inch LG 24UD58-B 4k display that turns into a side panel, he can carry just one box when traveling from job site to job site.
“It’s actually relatively spacious inside,” says Newcompute, with the graphics card at the front to allow outside air to come in, and a 360mm all-in-one liquid cooling system with a radiator at the front. I am talking about the design. Mounts to the top of the case to cool the CPU. “It’s not super convenient, but it’s more convenient than a tower and a monitor. I’m happy with it.”

“Yes, laptops are better suited for this use case,” Newcompute admits. “[An Apple] M1/M2 Macbook, [or NVIDIA GeForce RTX] All 4090 laptops are more convenient than this one. I already had all of these pieces and had to be reasonably portable and it was a lot of fun to put together. The thermals are excellent, but what’s not pictured is the bottom and side ventilation. The LED panel is actually a big heat source, but it doesn’t heat the other components enough. The top of the case is a 360mm radiator with an exhaust fan. “
