QUINCY (WGEM) – In an increasingly online world, knowing how to use computers and navigate online spaces is more important than ever. That’s why a local church has teamed up with Johnwood Community College to offer a free computer literacy course.
Pastor Carl R. Terry III of the Bethel AME Church handed out hundreds of free computers and Chromebooks to Quincy residents over the summer, but many haven’t even unboxed them or are familiar with how to set them up. He said he quickly discovered that it wasn’t. or use them.
He decided the next step would be to open and educate a computer lab. According to Terry, they have turned to John Wood Community College for help, and John Wood is helping them with their classes.
“I want everyone to have a computer so they can communicate,” he said. “As the world grows, we see computers as a fundamental element, a fundamental means of what we need to have.”
He said that while working with the JWCC to develop the curriculum, he taught people how to understand basic programs such as Microsoft Office and navigate online spaces such as email accounts and Facebook. I was.

Classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00pm to 6:30pm at Bethel AME Church. Classes are free and open to the public. Computers are provided, but you can bring your own.
