The Baylor Bears participated in Wednesday night’s game against the West Virginia Mountaineers outside the top 25 for the first time since March 2019, losing three straight games. Last week, Baylor dropped two heartbreakers to top 25 opponents TCU and Kansas State for a total of 3 points.
The Bears’ struggles are well documented, but the Mountaineers are also sitting 0-3 in conference play after a promising start. Bears forward Jaylen Bridges played 52 games for Bob Huggins over two seasons at Morgantown before moving in the offseason, so West Virginia welcomes a familiar face to the Coliseum .
Baylor’s football program has never won a championship at Morgantown, but his basketball program has been successful with Mountain State, going 6-4 at the West Virginia Coliseum and 14-8 with the Mountaineers. .
The struggle has come to Baylor’s defense, allowing over 80 points in each of their last three games. It has been named to the Mid-Season Top 25 and is the only program outside of last year’s National Championship combatants Kansas and North Carolina with multiple players on the list.
