Jaguar Land Rover has announced a new partnership with Wolfspeed. The company will use its silicon carbide technology in next-generation electric vehicles.
The technology will be used in JLR’s new electric vehicles, and Wolfspeed has worked with the Jaguar RTCS racing team for the past five seasons.
Wolfspeed’s advanced silicon carbide technology is used specifically in vehicle inverters to manage the transfer of power from the battery to the electric motor. The first Range Rover vehicles with this advanced technology will be available from his 2024, with the new all-electric Jaguar brand available the following year.
The partnership builds on Wolfspeed’s existing relationship with the race-winning Jaguar TCS Racing Team competing in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. The team uses advanced silicon carbide technology to accelerate efficiency and performance on the track.
The deal is the latest in a program in which Jaguar Land Rover establishes strategic partnerships with industry leaders for the future of modern luxury vehicles. In February 2022, Jaguar Land Rover announced his partnership with NVIDIA focused on next-generation software-defined advanced autonomous driving systems. Vehicles from 2025 onwards.
