Thanks to eighth-year funding from the National Science Foundation and the National Security Agency, Indiana University of Pennsylvania offers a week-long free GenCyber cybersecurity camp for middle and high school students .
The camp will run from 9am to 3:45pm at the IUP from June 12th to 16th.
The program also has two pre-camp online activity days on March 25 and April 29, and two post-camp online activity days on September 10 and October 1.
For eight consecutive years, IUP is the only school in Pennsylvania to offer the GenCyber student program.
The project is headed by Dr. Waleed Farag, Director of the IUP Cybersecurity Laboratory and Professor of Computer Science.
The camp is taught by a faculty team with established expertise in cybersecurity education and research. It offers a blend of evenly distributed and engaging delivery, including direct instruction, group activities, structured discovery, and hands-on, experimental, and informal instructional techniques, in individual and combined cohorts. provide both.
By the end of the camp, participants will not only have the basic skills to stay safe online, but also gain a deep understanding of cybersecurity. Camp students will receive an electronic kit to take home. Lunch and refreshments will be provided as part of the program.
To apply, students must be entering grade 7 or above in Fall 2023. Space is limited, so interested participants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
