We present the main points of this article in video format.
A new update is added at the end of this story…….
The original (released on September 13, 2022) is as follows.
Apple recently released an iOS 16 update with many new features and enhancements. The great editing tool for your iPhone lock screen and iMessage just got a major overhaul.
However, I’m also having some issues right after the update. For example, some iPhones with notches do not display the battery percentage in the status bar.
We also encountered an issue where the iOS 16 media player volume slider was missing on the lock screen. And now it seems that the update is interfering with the touchscreen.
iOS 16 update causing ghost touch issue
Many iPhone users (1, 2, 3, Four5, 6) reported issues with the touchscreen not working, not responding correctly, or lagging after the iOS 16 update.

After updating to iOS 16, iOS 16, the display is not responsive, the display skips and does not respond to touch. What’s wrong? Everything is fine in iOS 15.7

Due to this issue, some iPhone users feel that the screen becomes sluggish and the first touch is usually not registered.
Some people feel that bugs are affecting them. Most tapped regions Does not block the entire phone screen.
Affected users have also tried restarting and resetting their phones to no avail.
After a full reboot of the phone the problem persists.

Some reports suggest the problem may be prevalent on iPhones with third-party screens.
Unfortunately, Apple has not acknowledged the ghost touch issue after the iOS 16 update. I hope the team will make a fix soon.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on developments and will update the article when something worth noting comes up.
Update 1 (September 14, 2022)
1:55 PM (IST): One of the affected people has suggested a workaround that may help resolve this issue. To do so, you’ll need to turn on Touch Accommodation in your accessibility settings. Here’s how:
Workaround: Settings > Touch > Accessibility > Touch Accommodations (Turn on Touch Accommodations) > Scroll down and select ‘First touch location’ >> Scroll down >> Swipe Gestures (Turn on Swipe Gestures) >> Select “Normal”. (sauce)
Update 2 (September 15, 2022)
12:21 PM IST: iOS 16.1 beta is for beta testers. However, I’m not sure if it will fix the ghost touch issue.
Update 3 (September 16, 2022)
1:46 PM (IST): According to one of our readers, even the latest iOS 16.1 beta doesn’t fix the ghost touch issue.

Update 4 (September 19, 2022)
12:20 PM (IST): One of our readers suggested a workaround to help fix the ghost touch issue. If the solution mentioned in “Update 1” above doesn’t work, try this and see if it helps.
One partial solution I found is: For example, if you want to open Photos and open an app, press and hold your index finger anywhere on the screen, then press and hold the app you want to open with your second finger.
So at this point, you’re pressing with two fingers on the screen. Then lift your first finger off the screen. Then lift your second finger (on the app you want to open) and touch the same app icon again with your second finger to open the app.
This also works for entering a numeric passcode on the lock screen.

Update 5 (September 23, 2022)
2:21 PM (IST): Apple has released iOS 16.0.2 for eligible iPhone users. This update also includes a fix for ghost touch issues.
Addresses an issue that causes touch input to become unresponsive on some iPhone X, iPhone XR, and iPhone 11 displays after repair. (sauce)
Update 6 (October 25, 2022)
4:46 PM (IST): One of our readers confirmed that the ghost touch issue reappeared after updating to iOS 16.1.
Today, after updating from 16.0.3 to 16.1, a ghost bug hijacked my phone. Screens pop up everywhere, trying to remove the camera, calling random people on Facetime. It sucks. I started getting random touches all over the phone while trying to use nav while driving.
I almost had an accident. Apple should be aware that this is a serious issue for multiple users and rather than cover it up, submit a fix ASAP.
Thanks for the tip: John Shulak!
Update 7 (31 January 2023)
11:46 AM (IST): One of our readers confirmed that the ghost touch issue has been resolved in iOS 16.3.
Thanks for the tip: Sam Shahabeel!
