Chile-based SASIPA, the vitality provider for Easter Island, has launched a young for the deployment of a 2.99 MW photo voltaic plant linked to a 2 MWh vitality storage capability.
The undertaking will cut back the island’s reliance on diesel mills, which presently cowl 99% of electrical energy wants. Interested builders have till Sept. 22 to submit proposals.
“Once development is accomplished, the profitable bidder will proceed to watch and keep the photovoltaic plant and battery vitality storage system for twenty-four months,” SASIPA mentioned within the tender doc.
Easter Island presently has a small, operational PV plant – a 128 kW system donated by the Spanish renewables firm Acciona.
