MGE Seeks More Local Solar and Battery Storage to Serve Customers

Madison Gas and Electric (MGE) is in search of approval from the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW) to construct a 20 MW photo voltaic array and 40 MW BESS in Fitchburg, Wis.

Called the Sunnyside Solar Energy Center, the undertaking will present regionally generated photo voltaic power to MGE’s distribution system.

“MGE continues our path towards deep decarbonization to attain net-zero carbon electrical energy,” stated Jeff Keebler, chairman, president and CEO of MGE.

“Carbon is our goal, and our carbon discount targets are consistent with science. Under our commitments, by 2030, MGE hopes to ship electrical energy with 80% much less carbon emissions per MGE Similarly, by 2050, we hope to ship net-zero carbon electrical energy to each MGE electrical energy buyer. We are decarbonizing our grid successfully for the advantage of all prospects.

EDF Renewables is the developer of the undertaking. If permitted, building of the undertaking might start subsequent yr.
