The Philippines has emerged as a global leader in blockchain adoption. Bataan is rapidly establishing itself as a digital and blockchain hub among Southeast Asian nations, leading the Philippines in blockchain-powered digitization, according to Emmanuel Samson of Impero Group. I am poised.
Bataan, a special economic zone, has been moving towards the digitalization of its economy in recent years. In an interview with CoinGeek Backstage, Samson said the change is being led by regional leadership that is very open to learning about emerging technologies and working with the private sector to grow these technologies.
Bataan’s leadership welcomed the new company, saying: We don’t know everything, but if you join our community, we can build around it,” Samson said at his Blockchain Global Beside his summit, CoinGeek’s Claire told Seldran.
While welcoming startups, Bataan is keen to tighten existing regulations. The Freeport Area Authority of Bataan (AFAB) insists on compliance and conducts due diligence before issuing licenses to blockchain and beyond companies.
“AFAB already has all these systems in place,” says Samson.
Samson is CEO and co-founder of Impero Group, an enterprise blockchain company based in the Philippines. The company has already partnered with He AFAB on its offshore blockchain fintech solutions unit. The unit aims to build a blockchain community initially in Bataan, but eventually on a national level.
“This is really about massive adoption and how to monetize it. [blockchain]So it’s a win-win for governments, operators and the ecosystem as a whole,” he said.
Samson praised Bataan Governor Jose Enrique Garcia. Since taking office in late June this year, he has galvanized the drive for technology adoption in the region. He “want to improve the digital economy,” Samson says. Innovative companies in the region are allowed to continue building solutions while governments handle regulations, crack down on and license the industry against bad actors.
