The Nebraska swim and dive teams are scheduled to travel to Piscataway, New Jersey, for the final dual of the season against Rutgers on January 27-28. Action begins Friday at 5:00 PM CT and resumes Saturday at 10:00 AM CT.
The Huskers (6-2, Big Ten 2-1) beat Illinois 168-132, giving seven Huskers the event title. Gina Jorgenson Emphasizing the dual, he broke Devany Center Natatorium’s record for 1,000 freestyles in 9:53.58.
Rutgers is 3-2 on the year, beating Purdue in the only other Big Ten dual. NU faced Scarlett his Knights at the Hawkeye Invitational earlier this season, with Nebraska his #1 and Rutgers his #2.
Nebraska tied the series at 2-2 last season after two wins over Rutgers with a final score of 210-143. Madeshin Ronquilio (100 backstrokes, 200 backstrokes) and Berkeley Livingston (200 IM, 400 IM) each won two separate titles in duals, pushing the Huskers to their final dual win of the season.
A freshman from Aberdeen, South Dakota, Jorgenson won eight titles during the season, including four in the 1,000 Freestyle. At the Hawkeye Invitational, Jorgenson cut his 20 seconds off his previous best mile time to finish second in his time of 16:34.48. Jorgenson added to his two third-place finishes in the 500 freestyle (4:48.19) and his 400 IM (4:18.31) with career-best times at Iowa City.
Shannon Stott Contributed to nine wins in total, five in the 200m butterfly and three in the 500m freestyle. She scored her NCAA B Standard her cut in both events and Hawkeye her 200 butterfly in her invite she won in 1:58.15. Additionally, Stott finished second in her 500 freestyle (4:44.97) and her 200 freestyle (1:47.72).
Madeshin Ronquilio He leads Big Red in backstroke events, finishing in the top three with eight 100 backstrokes and six 200 backstrokes.
Sarah Burton A multi-faceted contributor for the Huskers, he posted career-best times in both individual medley events at the Hawkeye Invite, finishing 2nd in the 200 IM and 4th in the 400 IM. In the 200 Butterfly, Burton records his six top-three finishes.
Berkeley Livingston 8 times in the top 5 in the individual medley. The Lincoln senior has his 1,000 wins in freestyle during the season.
Myr Hall When Jojo Landby Teamed up and made a big impact in the breaststroke event. At the Hawkeye Invite, Randby swam her NCAA B standard cut in her 100 breaststroke and finished runner-up in 1:20.22. Landby swam seven 100 breaststrokes this season to finish in the top two.
Hall won the 200 breaststroke title at the Hawkeye Invitational and posted a career-best 2:10.76 to take five individual wins during the season.
In the sprint Lexi Kusella When Julia Marchi He has led Big Red in relays and individual events. At the Hawkeye Invite, Kucera finished second in 100 Butterfly, 100 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle and 200 Butterfly where he finished 3rd. Marchi has participated in six winning relays, including anchoring his relay in her 400 freestyle he swam leg in a win against Illinois last weekend.
In the distance freestyle event, Molly Rosenthal He has nine Top 3 finishes, including a 3rd place at the 500 Freestyle with Illinois.
Kelsey Claremont achieved a diving sweep in the Illinois dual, scoring the 1m with a career-best 281.70 and the 3m with a 297.08. In December, Claremont won the platform title at the Hawkeye Invitational, making it the first platform entry at the college level.
Reagan Hinze He contributed 11 top-five finishes this season, including 1-meter wins against Iowa State and Omaha.
Rutgers’ top scorers in last season’s Big Ten Championship were Sofia Chichaikina, Alice Scaravelli and Savannah Troub. Scarabelli’s top finish was the 200 Freestyle, where he placed eighth, while Chichaykina advanced to the B-finals with the 200 Butterfly and 200 Freestyle. Trueb is a dominating diver and in last year’s conference he finished eighth in the 3m final.
