Recently, my mother-in-law told me that she lost her iPhone while she was away with her father-in-law. She hits a hurdle when she realizes she can’t remember the password to help find her lost phone.
She had driven miles home to write it down, so she knew full well to go home, look up the password, log into her iCloud account, and click the “Find My” icon.
There is a much easier way to enable the Find My iPhone feature to quickly find your lost device by following these tips. Preparation is key here.

4) After clicking “Help a friend”, click “Use a different Apple IDSign in to iCloud using your Apple ID username and password. Your Apple ID is the same ID you used when you first set up your phone. This ID is usually required when downloading an app to your phone.

6) After entering your username and password, you will be able to select your lost device and perform various tasks. After selecting the devices to search, you can:
- make a sound: This will play a sound on your lost device. If your iPhone is dead or disconnected from cellular or internet WiFi, no sound will play until you reconnect.
- Lost Mode: Once selected, select Enable or Enable. You will be prompted to enter the contact information that you would like displayed on your lost device. You can also enter your own message asking the finder to contact you. Be sure to select “Enable”.
