CLEVELAND, Ohio — The travel nightmare continued for some passengers heading to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport Tuesday night.
“It took an hour and a half for my plane to take off. Apparently there weren’t enough staff to balance the luggage. I went to ,” said Abby Varela.
Valera was booked on a Southwest Airlines flight from Phoenix to Cleveland to vacation with her family in Ashland.
After being late multiple times, she ended up stranded in Chicago.
“I had to wait two and a half hours to catch the next flight. Then at 12:30 am, the flight was canceled and I was put on another flight, which was cancelled. My father drove five flights to Chicago, and it took him half an hour to pick me up,” Varela said.
Southwest Airlines issued a statement saying extreme winter weather was partly to blame.The airline has canceled about 70% of its flights this week.
“No contact at all. I called Southwest. When I try to call it hangs up. I can’t speak to anyone, it just hangs up,” Varela said.
Valera told 3News that she could not find her package and that her company did not help her at all.
“I have medicines in my bag that I have to take every day, because I thought I had a bag. I have enough for a day, so I have them in my bag, but I don’t know where they are,” says Valera. said. she said.
