A gadget-obsessed 10-year-old boy has mourned his mother after she refused to buy her a new Amazon virtual reality headset.
A boy has been charged as an adult with first-degree reckless murder in the November 21 shooting of Quiana Mann, 44, the mother of four children, in the basement of her Milwaukee home.
According to the criminal complaint, the boy stole his mother’s keys, took a gun out of a locked box, and then shot and killed her while she was doing laundry, WISN reported.
In her first interview, Mann’s sister Rhonda Reid told local news station TMJ4 that the boy had been diagnosed with a mood disorder and that his therapist recommended he reduce his access to video games.
“He was upset that these (electronic) devices were taken away,” Reid told TMJ4.
The boy then used his mother’s Amazon account to purchase an Oculus virtual reality headset, according to the criminal complaint.
Reid said she struggled to understand how her nephew planned the shooting the night before, as prosecutors allege.
