New year, new iPhone. That’s how it’s always been done, right? And to stay true to that trend, iPhone 15 talk was circulating even before the iPhone 14 came out.
Nothing has been decided, but there are certain rumors that are far more promising than others.
Release date and lineup
Apple typically holds an event every September, so iPhone release dates are almost always one of the predictable ones. If all goes according to plan, we’ll see the new iPhone 15 lineup in September 2023.
Speaking of lineup, what about the iPhone 15? As far as we know, Apple is planning to follow the same lineup with the iPhone 14, which includes the iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
However, industry speculators believe Apple could launch an all-new iPhone 15 Ultra in addition to the regular models. Will the iPhone 15 Ultra be a unique addition to the lineup, or will the iPhone 15 Pro Max be renamed the iPhone 15 Ultra instead?
Following the rumors of the iPhone 15 Ultra, there has also been a significant price increase for the model. Whether this increase (if true) applies to the entire lineup remains a mystery.
Some analysts argue that a price hike is inevitable, at least in the US, as the US did not see an iPhone 14 price hike while other countries did not.
Design: Will the iPhone 15 have USB-C?
We won’t know the exact details and dimensions until we see the iPhone 15 in person, but we have solid speculation about the redesign of the new lineup.
According to industry speculators, the notch could be eradicated from all iPhone models, replacing the Dynamic Island seen on the iPhone 14 Pro model. In addition to that, some sources also mention the iPhone 15’s rounded edges and titanium body.
Nevertheless, the biggest design change we’re looking forward to is the inclusion of a USB-C port to comply with EU regulations. USB-C has some advantages over Lightning, but Apple may use different types of his USB-C with different transfer speeds to make his Pro model stand out.
Some leaks also hinted at capacitive volume and power buttons with haptic feedback rather than physical ones, but we think that’s unlikely to happen.
Apple has never failed to improve camera features with each new iPhone lineup. I hope this time is no exception.
We dive straight for the big gun. Speculation that the iPhone 15 will have a new periscope lens is rife across multiple platforms. The periscope lens offers unprecedented zoom capabilities. According to industry sources, the current iPhone 14 Pro model is his 3x zoom, while the periscope lens could be up to 10x zoom.
As usual, Apple has kept its best features in the Pro model. That means that if a new lens is incorporated, it will likely be for the more expensive models.
Processor and eSIM
There’s no information about performance improvements, but the iPhone 15 could feature the new A17 Bionic processor. It’s unclear if the entire line will feature his expected A17, or just the Pro model. In the latter case, the standard iPhone 15 model could have his A16 chip, the same as the iPhone 14 Pro.
Moving on to eSIMs, you might be wondering if the iPhone 15 lineup will be eSIM-only like the iPhone 14 models. We don’t have official information, but it’s safe to assume that the iPhone 15 models sold in the US will continue to be eSIM-only. Some rumors suggest that the iPhone 15 models sold internationally will retain the physical SIM slot.
iPhone 15 already sounds promising
A new periscope lens, A17 Bionic processor, USB-C port, haptic buttons and possibly a new iPhone 15 Ultra? We have to admit that the rumors are very exciting.
However, take everything we say with a grain of salt, because everything is still uncertain and there is still much to be confirmed. Regardless, a glimpse of what’s to come certainly sounds promising.
