Bismarck, North Dakota (KFYR) – For those deciding whether to pursue higher education or return, cost can be a major factor in the decision. Bismarck State University might have made that decision a little easier.
Ty Kuntz never intended to attend BSC…
“Honestly, I worked in an auto mechanic shop and had no intention of going to college,” said Kunz.
…but he was happy. Especially since Bismarck State University announced that his program is eligible for free tuition through an “In Demand Career Scholarship”.
“I pay for all mine out of my pocket. said Kunz.
Ty is a freshman in BSC’s cybersecurity program. This program is he only one of 19 other her two- and four-year programs eligible for free tuition. The school awarded him over $315,000 through the American Rescue Plan Act. This is enough to pay for full-time tuition of 122. It may sound too good to be true, but BSC officials say it’s true.
“And it’s free. No tuition, no course, and we cover the costs.” said Karen Erickson, Director of Admissions at BSC.
Students and professionals can apply for admission in one of 20 fields. Upon acceptance into BSC and their program of choice, they can enjoy free tuition, fees, and textbooks worth up to $6,000.
Eligible classes will begin on February 6th and scholarships will be awarded until June 30th or until funds are exhausted.
