The current ransomware threat landscape goes beyond protecting infrastructure from the edge through firewalls and other network layers.
Cohesity Inc., a data security and management solutions provider, is innovating on this idea with its newly announced product, DataHawk, which enhances the company’s online data protection capabilities.
“If you think about all the pillars we offer, for data solutions data protection, data security, data access, Amith Nair (pictured), senior vice president and general manager of cloud at Cohesity, said: “GIn general, when customers think about security, They’re thinking of starting with perimeter, edge security. But at the end of the day what they’re really trying to do is It’s the data that you protect. DataHawk Formulated and Built To extend existing solutions to provide an additional layer of security. ”
Nair recently spoke with theCUBE industry analysts John Furrier and Paul Gillin. AWS re:Invent meeting, theCUBE, exclusively on SiliconANGLE Media’s Live Streaming Studios. They discussed emerging ransomware tactics and how his Cohesity products like DataHawk and FortKnox are poised to stop them. (*disclosed below)
New Age Hackers Are Smarter Than Ever
Currently, malicious ransomware attackers are innovating techniques to simultaneously attack both production and backup data and systems. These attacks are happening every 11 seconds of his life, Nair said, so businesses need to respond more aggressively than ever before.
“The initial target was the network Or firewall. Now it’s a backup,” he said. “So you have to be very smart about how you protect your backup. And if attacked, It doesn’t just prevent it. How Can you show resilience if attacked?
In response to this trend, Cohesity will launch FortKnox, a cyber vaulting solution, in early 2022, according to Nair.
“This is an air gap solution with a high level of functionality,” he added. “We are very pleased with our customers, adopted, and extended it to provide many More data classification features Ransomware check too — so Malware checks on the product itself Regarding what is backed up. ”
