Charleston, South Carolina (WCBD) – A professor at the University of Charleston will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award for Computer Science this spring.
Renée McCauley has been working as a computer programming expert for over 30 years. McCauley is Professor and Chair of the Computer Sciences Department at the University of Charleston.
Outside of college, he volunteers for the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the flagship organization for computer science professionals worldwide.
According to the University of Charleston, McCauley contributes to ACM’s Special Interest Group on Computer Science Education (SIGCSE).
SIGCSE is an international community of thousands of computing educators.
In March, McCauley will receive the 2023 SIGCSE Award for Lifetime Service to the Computer Science Education Community. This award recognizes individuals who have made many years of volunteer work in computer science education.
McCauley has served on the SIGCSE board for 12 years and held a leadership position at ACM for 6 years.
McCauley is property of the College of Charleston’s Computer Science Department.
