Mobile, Alabama (WKRG) — As Christmas day approaches, some are feeling the last-minute travel hustle here in Mobile, hoping to get to their destination before Santa.
Luckily, unlike most airports on vacation, Mobile Regional Airport was fairly quiet on Saturday morning. There were no delays and very few flights departed from Mobile, including Atlanta, Houston, Dallas and Charlotte.
One person we spoke to said that their flight in Pensacola was cancelled, so they drove to Mobile to catch a flight.
Another couple left Mobile from their honeymoon on Saturday morning to catch a flight to Dallas and then to Milwaukee to visit family in time for Christmas. I say thank you for that.
Taylor Latona said, “This is how we can get the most out of our trip and tomorrow we have all the plans with the family so it’s not too bad.” So… I thought Christmas Eve was going to be a little busier, but so far so good.”
A Mobile Airport Authority official told News 5 that the past week has been a busy day at regional airports and so far they have not seen numbers projected after Christmas and New Year.
