Cricket stadium to have photo voltaic panels fitted

-

Plans to put in greater than 1,000 photo voltaic panels at a cricket stadium have been accredited.

The panels will go on the roofs of 5 buildings within the Utilita Bowl, within the West End, Southampton.

Producing about 25% of the stadium’s annual energy, the photo voltaic panels cowl the electrical energy used on match days.

More than 600 panels will probably be put in above the venue’s resort, with round 180 occurring the roofs of the East and West stands.

Utilita Energy stated it hoped the scheme would flip the venue, previously often known as the Ageas Bowl and Rose Bowl, into the “greenest cricket floor on the planet”.

It added that the photo voltaic panels are anticipated to save lots of the cricket floor “a six-figure sum” annually in electrical energy prices, in addition to 80 tonnes of carbon.

The scheme, which was submitted by the power firm in February, was accredited by Eastleigh Borough Council.
