Lebanon’s Ministry of Energy and Water has began a young for an 8 MW photo voltaic plant close to the Beirut River.

The Beirut River Solar Snake challenge can be publicly funded and linked to the medium-voltage grid, which supplies energy to Electricité du Liban.

Developers have till October 23 to submit bids.

Lebanon’s photo voltaic sector has grown quickly since 2020, pushed by off-grid photo voltaic and battery installations for houses and companies.

In May 2023, the Lebanese Center for Energy Conservation (LCEC) projected that the nation would exceed 1 GW of rooftop photo voltaic by June 2023.

According to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Lebanon has reached 1,005 MW of cumulative put in photo voltaic capability by the top of 2023.
